The NHEA CO-OP began in the fall of 2005 with the purpose of offering a variety of classes at a low cost to our members who want a cooperative learning environment to supplement their home schooling experience.

CO-OP is a place where we (the moms) can share our knowledge, gifts, and talents with each other and our children. It is a place where we can minister to one another through teaching, prayer, encouragement, and edification.

CO-OP is a place of safety. We can trust that our children will grow spiritually and academically and will build friendships and relationships that will last into eternity. Please be aware that although we do have some certified teachers, the majority of classes are taught by parents who are qualified, not certified. These are moms and/or dads who are willing to invest their time into your kids.

CO-OP meets on Tuesday afternoons for two ten-week semesters per school year, one in the fall and one in the spring. We offer a variety of extra-curricular and academic classes. The class schedule changes with each semester as we depend on parent volunteers to teach. Our current schedule is for three class hours. You may choose to come for one, two, or all three class hours.

CO-OP is not a drop off opportunity. One parent or grandparent must stay on the premises volunteering their services in an assigned job. Parent assignments will include, but are not limited to, teacher, assistant teacher, class helper, hall monitor, janitorial, and administrative duties. Parents and/or grandparents will be encouraged to work in their area of giftedness. It is our goal to offer three class choices for all hours of CO-OP, for 1st – 12th grades. However, the number of class choices depends on how many parents are willing to teach. We also have an infant nursery, 1 & 2 year old toddler class,
3 year old toddler class, and Pre-K & Kindergarten classes.

Registration for fall semesters begins in July of the current school year, and for spring semesters in November of the current school year. Download our registration forms, class schedules, descriptions and fees, rules and guidelines for more information.

We highly encourage our parents to use their gifts and talents to teach our children. However, we also encourage our parents to participate in CO-OP for one semester before assuming the position of lead teacher. (The NHEA CO-OP board must approve all teacher positions and classes) The first step for those interested in teaching is to download the Prospective Class Application, fill it out completely, and mail it to the CO-OP director.
